Henrico High School, built in 1962 as a campus style school, is located on 302 Azalea Ave in the Fairfield District It was the signature school and named after the county. In 1990, a dance studio was added, remodeled from one of the cafeterias. That same year, the Theatre Studio was remodeled from a former Industrial Arts classroom. In 1990, the Center for the Arts, Henrico County’s first Specialty Center opened to students With pathways for Dance, Musical Theatre, Theatre and Visual Arts. In 1995 the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years/Diploma Program opened and became the second center at Henrico HS and the first IB program in the county. In 2008, new buildings were added including the North Cafeteria (a third cafeteria), and the Lee Hanchey Center for the Arts Building. In 2012 the school underwent a 32 million dollar renovation effectively creating an entire new front office. In the Spring of 2021, a third branch of IB was added, the Career Program (CP). This program blends IB and Career and Technical Education courses. Also added In 2021 is the opportunity for all students to take Dual Enrollment courses for college credit.
