About Us
Henrico High School, built in 1962 as a campus-style school, is located at 302 Azalea Ave. in Henrico County's Fairfield magisterial district. The school was named for Henrico County. In 1990, a dance studio was added, remodeled from one of the cafeterias. That same year, the theatre studio was created from a former industrial arts classroom. In 1990, the Center for the Arts — Henrico County Public Schools' first specialty center — opened to students with areas of study in dance, musical theatre, theatre and visual arts. In 1995 the International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma programs opened. They became the second center at Henrico H.S. and the county's first I.B. program. In 2008, new buildings were added, including the North Cafeteria (a third cafeteria) and the Lee Hanchey Center for the Arts Building. In 2012 the school underwent a $32 million renovation, effectively creating an entirely new front office. In the spring of 2021, a third branch of I.B. was added, the I.B. Career Program. This program blends I.B. and career and technical education courses. Also added In 2021 was the opportunity for all students to take dual-enrollment courses for college credit. The core values of Henrico High School reflect the highly diverse student population. These core values include community, engagement and opportunity.
